The warranty, payment, Incoterm, cancellation and return terms for a factory-direct order are stated in your written quote and order confirmation. For comparison, published US fiberglass grating warranties run from 1 year against latent defects to 3 years from delivery, and published US terms of sale charge restocking fees of 20% or more on returns.
What does a factory-direct quote state?
A term applies to your order only when it is in your written, dated quote and order confirmation (see the website terms of use). Grating is made by Nantong Strongrate Co., Ltd. in Nantong, Jiangsu, China, and ships from China. Ask for each of these when you request a quote:
- The company that issues the quote, pro forma invoice and order confirmation
- Warranty: period, coverage, exclusions and remedy
- Payment: deposit and balance, and accepted payment methods
- Quote validity and the Incoterm with its named place (FOB, CIF or DDP)
- Inspection before loading, and the time to report damage, shortages or defects after delivery
- Cancellation and returns
- A certificate of insurance (COI), if your company or general contractor requires one, with the coverage and limits you need

Which shipping documents come with an order?
| Document | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Commercial invoice | US customs entry and duty; FRP grating is classified under HTS 3925.90.00.001 |
| Packing list | Panel count, sizes and weights per crate for receiving and unloading |
| Ocean bill of lading | Release of the container at the US port |
| DNV marking and product manual | Each grating of the six DNV-listed models is marked with the brand and fire rating; the manual is supplied |
Notes
- 1Classification is decided at entry; confirm it with your licensed customs broker.
How do inspection and claims work?
Count the crates and look for damage when the container is unloaded, note any damage on the delivery receipt, and photograph it before you move the grating. The claims window and remedy are stated in your quote.
Whose terms apply if we refer you to a US importer?
The importer’s. Orders under about 500 sq ft, or needed in under 3 weeks, go to a US stocking importer that sells from its own US stock under its own warranty, payment and return terms; Strongrate is not the seller in that sale. See fiberglass grating suppliers for how the referral works.
Frequently asked questions
Will the factory accept my company’s purchase order terms?
Send your terms with your quote request. The terms written into your quote and order confirmation are the ones that apply to the order.
Can the grating warranty be passed on to the building owner?
If your contract requires an owner-assignable warranty, say so in your quote request so the written warranty can address it.
What ships with DNV type-approved grating?
Under DNV Type Approval TAF0000191 Rev. 1, each grating of the six listed models must be marked with the brand and its fire rating, and the manual must be supplied with the product.
