1" I-Bar Pultruded Fiberglass Grating
Updated
Strongrate's catalog lists three 1" (25 mm) I-bar pultruded grating types: I-4010, I-5010 and I-6010, at 40%, 50% and 60% open area and 2.3–3.5 lb/ft² (11.2–17.1 kg/m²). Pick the open area for the walking surface, then check deflection at your clear span in the load tables below.

Which 1" I-bar types does Strongrate list?
The three types differ in bearing-bar spacing: closer bars mean smaller openings and more weight. Panels run up to 5 ft × 20 ft (1524 × 6100 mm), with the bearing bars along the panel length, so plan panel length with the span direction.

How much load can 1 inch pultruded fiberglass grating carry?
Find your clear span, then read deflection under your design load. Typical pedestrian loads are 50–65 psf (2.4–3.1 kPa); halve tabulated loads for impact or dynamic conditions. How to read the columns: fiberglass grating load tables.

If 1" misses your load or deflection limit, step up to 1-1/2" I-bar grating or 2" T-bar grating. Pultruded grating is marketed as about twice as stiff as molded, so also compare 1" molded grating at the same span.
Which resins and surfaces can you order at 1"?
Fire-retardant vinyl ester (VEFR, up to 230°F (110°C)), isophthalic polyester (IFR, up to 176°F (80°C)) or food-grade isophthalic polyester (FG). Tops are corrugated, gritted or smooth, with solid covers in checker or grit finish. Resins are compared on pultruded fiberglass grating.
How do you order 1" I-bar grating?
Made in Nantong, China, and shipped from China. Full containers and project quantities are quoted factory-direct; orders under about 500 sq ft, or needed in under 3 weeks, are referred to US stock. See the fiberglass grating price per square foot basis or request a quote.
Frequently asked questions
How far apart are the cross rods on 1" I-bar panels?
Strongrate's catalog lists cross bars at 6" (152 mm) centers on all three 1" types. US stock pultruded panels commonly use 6" (152 mm) too, and some lines use 3" (76 mm) or 8" (203 mm).
Which way should the bars run on a 1" I-bar walkway?
On an accessible route, ADA 302.3 requires openings that do not pass a 1/2" (13 mm) sphere, with the long side of elongated openings perpendicular to the dominant direction of travel. The clear opening decides it, not the open-area percentage; for small openings see mini mesh ADA grating.
