Strongrate Fiberglass Grating · Factory-Direct, home

Specify conductive fiberglass grating by the electrical test and installed-system requirements, alongside its structural loads. Strongrate’s catalog lists conductive molded grating at 1 × 10⁵ to 5 × 10⁵ ohms. The statement does not identify the test method, measurement arrangement or conditioning, so it does not by itself demonstrate ESD or hazardous-area compliance.

Define what the electrical result must demonstrate

Start with the facility’s written electrical or static-control specification. Give its required test standard, resistance limits and acceptance conditions to the project electrical engineer and include them in the quote request. Keep the catalog’s resistance statement separate from project acceptance: the same unit, ohms, does not establish that two measurements used the same method.

Electrical questions to resolve in the submittal
SpecifyWhat the evidence must identify
MeasurementWhether the requirement is point-to-point, surface, through-thickness or resistance to ground; use the method required by the project.
Test conditionsSample condition, temperature and humidity, electrode arrangement, applied voltage and measurement procedure.
ConnectionsApproved connection points, bonding details, support arrangement and the site grounding design.
AcceptanceWho tests the installed surface, where measurements are taken and which limits determine acceptance.

A product name is not a system approval

“Conductive” does not establish explosion protection, hazardous-location approval or the performance of a complete ESD floor. Have the responsible engineer identify the applicable requirements and review the product evidence and installation details before selection.

Review the surface, exposure and structure together

State the required mesh, finish, panel depth and clear opening, then check that the electrical documentation covers that proposed construction. Include chemicals, concentrations, temperature, moisture, cleaning agents and cleaning methods. The chemical-resistance guide helps organize the exposure description; compatibility and electrical performance are separate review items.

For a process walkway, send the support layout, clear span and pedestrian or equipment loads. Electrical resistance is not a load rating. Review the exact conductive model’s structural data using the load-table checklist, including concentrated loads, deflection, cutouts and fastening. A table for ordinary molded grating does not automatically cover a conductive version.

Where an open surface is needed, compare mini-mesh grating for opening requirements. Where a continuous top is required, review covered grating. These are separate construction categories: do not assume a small-mesh or covered product is electrically conductive, or that a conductive option has the same dimensions.

Send the requirements needed for a useful quote

  • Electrical specification: intended function, applicable test method, acceptance limits and any facility or hazardous-location requirements.
  • Installation drawing: support structure, panel joints, cutouts, fastening and the engineer’s grounding or bonding details.
  • Mechanical requirements: finished piece sizes, quantity, load cases, clear spans, allowable deflection and opening requirements.
  • Exposure and maintenance: chemicals, temperature, moisture, footwear, cleaning and inspection conditions.
  • Commercial scope: destination ZIP code, required arrival date, fabrication, hardware and electrical testing or documentation to include.

Compare bids against the same test and installation scope, rather than matching only a resistance range. Use the quote comparison tool to separate panel cost, fabrication, hardware, testing and delivery. Request a sample when the project requires evaluation of the proposed construction, with its identity tied to the submitted documentation.
