Strongrate Fiberglass Grating · Factory-Direct, home

Specify wastewater treatment grating separately for walkways, removable covers and areas carrying equipment. Record the clear span, support arrangement, load case and actual chemical exposure before choosing a mesh, depth or resin. Use the panel schedule to coordinate maintenance access, fastening and delivery requirements, then check the project’s origin requirements before requesting a quote.

Separate walking routes from covers and equipment loads

Mark each grating area on the process layout. A maintenance walkway beside a channel, a removable panel over equipment and a crossing used by a loaded cart can share a wet environment while requiring different structural and access details. Do not use one generic load description for the whole facility.

Strongrate’s catalog load tables describe static loads at ambient temperature and include an impact-load note. Have the project engineer also assess sustained loading and elevated temperatures for the proposed installation. Review the load and deflection tables for the exact configuration; do not substitute another manufacturer’s table.

Record the actual exposure at each process location

“Wastewater service” does not identify the chemical conditions needed for resin selection. Separate the normal process stream from cleaning, dosing and maintenance exposure. Record the conditions at the grating, including spills or washdown, rather than only the bulk liquid conditions in the tank.

  • Chemical or cleaning-product name, safety data sheet and known ingredients.
  • Normal and maximum concentration, including dilution during washing or rinsing.
  • Normal and maximum temperature at the exposed surface.
  • Continuous contact, immersion, repeated splash or occasional spill, with contact duration.
  • Mixtures, process changes, cleaning cycles and any exposure that differs from normal operation.

The fiberglass grating chemical-resistance guide explains Strongrate’s catalog chart and the exposure categories. Its general guidance comes from resin-makers’ data, and the catalog recommends testing in the actual environment. A listed ingredient does not establish compatibility for the complete mixture or cleaning product.

Strongrate’s catalog includes vinyl ester and isophthalic polyester systems for molded and pultruded grating. Match the specific chart row and service conditions rather than choosing by color or resin name alone. Keep the selected resin, surface and any fire requirements in the project specification.

Coordinate panels with supports and maintenance access

Compare molded grating and pultruded grating using the proposed support layout. For pultruded panels, mark the bearing-bar direction on every piece. For molded panels, use the catalog row’s stated span direction where supplied; do not assume every rectangular mesh can be rotated without changing its load path.

Identify equipment that must pass through each access opening and the space needed to lift a cover. Mark the panel-removal sequence for pump or screen servicing, temporary panel storage and the route operators need while a section is open. Show penetrations, fixed panels and removable sections separately. Review the trench-cover sizing guidance and panel fastening details with the supporting frame.

Use the catalog size and weight chart and weight calculator for initial handling discussions. Calculated material weight excludes packing and clips and does not establish a lifting method. Include hold-down clips, supports and any handrail components in the project schedule.

For replacement of corroded steel panels, compare the entire installation using the FRP versus steel grating guide. Retained support locations, finished floor level, connections and the required load remain part of the replacement decision.

Prepare the wastewater treatment grating inquiry

  1. Attach a marked plan with panel IDs, finished dimensions, quantities, clear spans and bearing directions.
  2. Assign each panel its load case and identify cart crossings, equipment supports and removable covers.
  3. Attach the chemical-exposure record and state resin, surface, color and project specification requirements.
  4. List clips and related components, access constraints, delivery ZIP or postal code and the required delivery date.

For reclaim-water equipment in a vehicle-wash facility, also use the car-wash grating checklist to separate vehicle crossings from treatment access. Coastal facilities can review the additional exposure and surface questions in dock and marina grating.

Strongrate grating is made in Nantong, China, and ships from China. It is not eligible for BABA-covered federally funded infrastructure projects. Check the Buy America and BABA guidance and the project’s origin requirements before including it in a procurement schedule.

Send the completed schedule through a quote request. The factory-direct ordering guide explains routing and the information needed to review product and shipping terms.
