1-1/2" Thick Molded Fiberglass Grating, 1-1/2" Square Mesh

Strongrate's 1.5 inch fiberglass grating is a 1-1/2" (38 mm) deep molded panel with a 1-1/2" square mesh, at 4.0 lb/ft² (19.5 kg/m²) and 68% open area per its catalog. Use it for walkways, platforms and flooring where 1" grating cannot meet the span or load. The isophthalic model is DNV-listed (TAF0000191 Rev. 1), ASTM E84-19a flame spread index 15.

How much load can 1.5 inch fiberglass grating carry?

Read the deflection at your clear span in the catalog tables below, for uniform and concentrated loads at ambient temperature. Halve the loads for impact, and keep pedestrian deflection to the lesser of 3/8" (10 mm) or span/125, as the catalog recommends. Which resins and surfaces can you order?

The DNV-listed model is isophthalic polyester; its fire results apply to that resin. Strongrate’s catalog also lists fire-retardant vinyl ester, food-grade isophthalic and orthophthalic resin for molded grating, with a concave (meniscus) or gritted top, or a solid cover with a checker or grit finish. Resins and temperature limits are compared on molded fiberglass grating.

How is 1-1/2" molded grating quoted and shipped?

Made in Nantong, China, and shipped from China. Full containers and project quantities are quoted factory-direct; orders under about 500 sq ft, or needed in under 3 weeks, are referred to US stocking importers. What does the 38×38×38 designation on the DNV certificate mean?

It is the model size in millimeters, read as mesh × mesh × depth: a 1-1/2" × 1-1/2" (38 × 38 mm) square mesh, 1-1/2" (38 mm) deep.

Is Strongrate 1-1/2" molded grating Class 1 under ASTM E84?

The DNV-listed 38×38×38 mm isophthalic model has a flame spread index of 15, within the 25-or-less limit US guide specifications call Class 1 or Class A. The result applies to that model and resin only. More on the test: ASTM E84 Class 1 fire rating.

Can 1-1/2" molded grating be installed outdoors?

Yes, with UV protection: one US guide specification requires FRP products exposed to weather to contain an ultraviolet inhibitor, and Strongrate’s catalog says its molded grating resin contains UV inhibitors. Mention outdoor use in your quote request.
